About Matthew Skillern

Matthew Skillern grew up in Stafford, Texas, playing football at Tyler Junior College, before graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Political Science. He then obtained his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, often working two or three jobs to earn money required for his studies. He began his legal career as a prosecutor for the Smith County District Attorney’s office in Tyler, Texas, gaining valuable experience in a wide range of criminal issues, and trying cases before juries.

He subsequently moved home to Houston, where he opened The Skillern Firm. He and his team provide outstanding legal advice and representation to clients from all over the state. Matthew is a well-respected attorney who has earned the admiration of colleagues, friends, and clients by his powerful courtroom presence, as well as his compassion for those who need his legal assistance.
